B.O.O.S.T Battle
On Sunday, October 13th, 2024, the B.O.O.S.T Battles are back!
The B.O.O.S.T battle is a local hip-hop battle in and from the Bijlmer in Amsterdam, created through a collaboration between Enver Liesdek and Gregory Shaggy. Studio Free&Style became the main venue for this local community event, which has been around since 2021. They ensure the continuation of this event.
The vision is to create a local hip-hop battle for talented young people – and established dancers in Amsterdam Southeast. They participate as dancers, while the older generation is responsible for the production of the event. They create ideas and unite the hip-hop dance community from the Netherlands in the Bijlmer, with dancers from across Europe.
The B.O.O.S.T battle is unique because there are no rules. The original hip-hop values of respect, peace, love, unity & having fun are the unwritten rules we follow.
A panel of expert judges selects the best dancers in the moment. The respect for each other’s dance, mutual encouragement for all participants, and passion for hip-hop freestyle dance allow for a simple effective format. The level of the battle has quickly grown to a national standard, attracting the best hip-hop freestylers from the Netherlands and international visitors. The battles are raw, the atmosphere is inspiring, and they support the growth of hip-hop freestyle dance in the Netherlands.
